2020 Mazda CX-30 Preview For San Antonio

The 2020 Mazda CX-30 is a brand-new small crossover SUV that slots between the subcompact CX-3 and the compact CX-5. The CX-30 features the bold styling of the Mazda3, black-plastic body cladding and even more room for cargo. Buyers at dealers like the Mazda dealer in San Antonio appreciate the long list of standard driver-assistance and technology features. Inside, the CX-30 gets a more sophisticated interior than rival vehicles like the Subaru Crosstrek or the Nissan Rogue Sport.

The CX-30 is aimed at younger buyers looking for a small crossover that feels like a premium vehicle but doesn’t carry a premium price tag. We think the CX-30 will be the perfect addition for buyers looking for a vehicle in this class that offers a carlike ride and lots of curb appeal.

According to the Mazda dealership in San Antonio, the 2020 Mazda CX-30 is powered by the same engine found under the hood of the Mazda3, a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that generates 186 horsepower and 186 lb-ft of torque, mated to a six-speed automatic transmission. Performance should equal the Mazda3, as the 2020 CX-30 gets the same the torsion-beam rear suspension. Both front- and all-wheel drive are available.

We don’t have the official word on the CX-30’s fuel economy at this time, but we don’t expect it to depart too far from the Mazda3, which gets an EPA-rated 27/36 mpg with front-wheel drive.* With all-wheel drive, the Mazda3 returns 25/33 mpg.

The CX-30 has a slightly smaller wheelbase and overall length than the Mazda3 sedan in order to slot it between the automaker’s current crossover lineup, since the Mazda3 has a wheelbase that’s a bit longer than the CX-5. With 15.1 cubic feet of cargo space behind the rear seats, the CX-30 offers a bit more cargo capacity than its CX-3 sibling.

The interior of the CX-30 is an inviting place to spend time. The cabin features the same level of design and workmanship as the Mazda3. The infotainment system’s display is situated at the center of the dash, and the driver can use the convenient rotary knob to control it. The upper and lower dashboard panels are separated by a row of buttons for the climate-control system. Music lovers will enjoy the choice of two high-quality stereo systems, with either eight or 12 speakers. Buyers who live in locales with cold winters will appreciate the optional heated front seats.

Standard entertainment and connectivity features include an 8.8-inch display and Mazda Connected Services. The latter provides dri, vers with several useful features via an app, including remote start, remote lock and unlock and vehicle monitoring. Bluetooth is standard, as are two front USB inputs. Options include a Wi-Fi hotspot, Sirius XM satellite radio, and Apple CarPlay and Android Audio compatibility.

Driver-assistance features that come standard include automated emergency braking with pedestrian detection, lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, and adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go technology. Options include blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert and a head-up display.
