While small crossovers have replaced sedans in popularity these days, it’s difficult to tell one model from another. Most are great at what they do, but for the most part, they won’t get buyers overly excited. However, there’s one exception to the rule that says compact crossovers must be boring: the 2020 Mazda CX-5. This is one SUV that excites customers at dealerships like the Schertz Mazda dealer, thanks to its beautiful interior and exterior styling, outstanding performance and exceptional driving dynamics.

The 2020 Mazda CX-5 is perhaps the only vehicle in its class that can be called engaging to drive. The CX-5 features agile handling, taking curves and cutting corners with ease, thanks to Mazda’s torque-vectoring system. Buyers at the Mazda dealer near Schertz also appreciate the CX-5’s long list of advanced safety features as well as its excellent safety scores.

The automotive media is suitably impressed by the 2020 Mazda CX-5. Consumer Reports wrote: “With the second-generation CX-5, Mazda retained most of the sporty handling that made the first-generation enjoyable, but this SUV is much more mature now with vastly improved ride comfort, noise isolation, and interior quality. It's one of the more desirable models in the compact SUV class. Unlike purely rational choices like the Honda CR-V and Subaru Forester, there’s a bit of joie de vivre with the CX-5.”

The 2020 Mazda CX-5 is available in five trim levels: Sport, Touring, Grand Touring, Grand Touring Reserve and Signature. Sport, Touring and Grand Touring models are equipped with a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that develops 187 hp and 186 lb-ft of torque, mated to a six-speed automatic transmission. This engine comes with front-wheel drive. The upper Grand Touring Reserve and Signature trims are powered by a turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder powerplant that makes 227 hp and 310 lb-ft of torque. With premium fuel, this engine generates 250 hp and 320 lb-ft. This unit is also connected to the six-speed automatic transmission, and it gets all-wheel drive standard.

As you would expect with a Mazda vehicle, fuel economy is excellent. The 2020 Mazda CX-5 gets up to an EPA-estimated 25/31 mpg for the base 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine with front-wheel drive.*
